  • urgh!
  • TBR pile: + 1 book

Favorite novel:
Hot Island Nights by Sarah Mayberry. *g* Well, it’s the only novel I read this month but that’s not the reason it’s my favorite novel. I really liked it a lot that’s why.

Books read:
Adele Ashworth – Winter Garden (3,5/5)
Megan Hart – Naked (3,5/5)
Megan Hart – Switch (3,5/5)

  • I only read three books this month, none in the last two weeks
  • on the bright side: I didn’t buy any new books either

Favorite novel:

New-to-me authors: Adele Ashworth

New-to-me authors I would read again: Adele Ashworth

Comments

  • Megan Hart – Deeper
  • Jim Butcher – “Codex Alera” series, #1-4
  • Adele Ashworth – Winter Garden – basically my opinion about this novel stayed the same as in this comment. Sadly the novel wasn’t the wowzer I expected but I’m glad I had the chance to read it.
  • As for Megan Hart’s novels – I actually liked Switch better than Naked although Naked was much more a romance (as far as you can say that about these novels) than Switch. But I thought the couple in Naked lacked chemistry and Alex stayed as much a mystery as he was in Tempted. I also thought he got the short end of the stick (compared th what he had in Tempted) because the romance felt tepid. I liked Switch better because I thought it the more interesting novel thanks to the premise. These two novels didn’t work as well for me as the other novels I’ve by Megan Hart but I still enjoyed reading them both.

  • TBR pile: -2 books
  • * I can’t make up my mind again about the grades it seems.
  • a very good month in terms of how much I enjoyed the books I read – no downright “bad” book in sight. Yay!

Favorite novel:
Well, I said I had a good month in terms of how much I liked most of the books but even though, I can’t say I had a favorite. A couple came close, Meljean Brook’s Demon Blood, Megan Hart’s Deeper or Eloisa James’s A Duke of Her Own (very probably my favorite by her so far), but none completely grabbed and convinced me. / Jim Butcher’s Codex Alera series is shaping up to be among my favorite fantasy series.

Favorite quote:

Sunset was only thirty minutes gone when some pissant vampire waylaid Deacon on his way to Theriault’s. One of those younger shits who wrote poetry to Mother Darkness and thought becoming a vampire would make him sparkle.

Meljean Brook, Demon Blood, p. 396

The last sentence in this quote had me LMAO the first time I read it. It still cracks me up whenever I think about it.
